Malawi - Vwasa Marsh game reserve
Nyika Safari Company
The Nyika Safari Company is the
only operator in this 986sq.km reserve and runs
two camps, Kazuni Safari Camp and Kazuni Camp.
Both camps are in a spectacular setting on the
edge of Lake Kazuni in the south east corner of
the reserve. In front of the camps an expanse
of flat water spreads out surrounded by low hills
and Miombo woodland, with a steady stream of animals
coming down to water.
The Vwaza Marsh has a wonderful
mix of habitats attracting a splendid range of
birdlife and animals.
As both Kazuni camps are situated
by Lake Kazuni, you don't necessarily have to
go far to see animals. But to see a full range
of what Vwaza Marsh has to offer, game drives
and walks are on offer. Birdlife is particularly
good here with excellent sightings of raptors.
Kazuni Safari Camp
The small rustic Kazuni Safari
Camp has four comfortable thatched reed huts that
sleep just eight guests. It has a thatched roof
dining area open at the sides for views of Lake
Kazuni and passing animal life.
This camp comprises four twin
bedded rondavels made entirely of poles and grass
with ensuite facilities and a main restaurant
/ bar under a secluded grove of Acacia trees.
Accommodation is on a full board basis and safari
activities (gamedrives, nightdrives and walks)
are available led by a professional safari guide.
Kazuni Camp
Kazuni Camp is a traditional tented safari camp,
which has recently been upgraded, and has a central
ablution block. Kazuni Camp offers a self-catering
option, and a chef is provided if you wish to
bring your own food. Alternatively, meals can
be provided if pre-ordered. All in a patch of
evergreen trees.
